Essex Probation

Case Study: They designed it, we built it

Southminster C of E Primary School has a new garden, thanks to its creative pupils and a hard-working team of offenders.

The garden, officially opened by Head Teacher Karen Harden in July 2012, was the latest Community Payback project to benefit the school. It features sensory and tranquil areas and a tree donated by beneficiaries of another Unpaid Work project at the local railway station.

Pupils’ designs were combined by teachers and influenced the new garden layout.

Staff and pupils gathered in the garden for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and to hear Head Teacher Karen thank Essex Probation for its efforts.
