  • COVID-19. Don’t stop reading just yet.

I know we’ve grown to dislike that word. Who wants to read about COVID-19, yet again?

But, trust me. This blog is not about the spread of COVID-19.

It’s about stopping the spread of COVID-19. It’s about how when we practice simple, easy, medically advised behaviors, we are using effective weapons against the virus.

Collectively, we are ready to move on and are weary of all the hand-washing, mask-wearing and social-distancing. If anger and grief were effective weapons against it, it would have been vanquished long ago.

But the sad fact is that this virus is not going to disappear just because we want it to. In fact, the resurgence much of the world is experiencing shows that when we consider returning to normal, COVID-19 sees an opportunity.

The good news is that protecting ourselves and others is in our control. We just need to remind ourselves of that. And then remind ourselves again. And again.

This is why Sodexo is launching an internal and external campaign to remind our teams and our communities that we have the power to control this while we wait for a vaccine. In twelve languages and across every platform we have, we are reminding people of the dangers of COVID-19, how it spreads, how to protect ourselves and how to protect others.

I invite you to check out and share the campaign’s short videos below. These were developed by Sodexo’s Medical Advisory Council, a group of medical experts who help Sodexo understand and minimize risk: ensuring safe and practical information and behaviors for all our stakeholders. The messages are simple but important:

    • Know your risk
    • Wear a mask
    • Wash your hands and wipe surfaces
    • Keep your distance
    • Stay fit and eat well to bolster your immunity

I invite other business leaders to join this effort. We all have a role to play.

At Sodexo, we consider this a special, social responsibility – many of our team members are on the frontlines, in hospitals, senior care communities, schools, universities and more. They are the heroes of the pandemic. We owe it to them and to everyone to get the message out and repeat it as many times as it’s needed - until everyone is safe.

    Let’s fight on together.
