Thanks for a good service:

A year-long project at Southend High School for Boys is set to continue, after staff praised the hard work of Community Payback teams.

Offenders repainted hundreds of metres of perimeter fencing and sign boards, cut back overgrown shrubbery and shifted bricks from one end of the school to the other.

In a letter to Essex Probation, Facilities Manager Suzy Self said: “May I take the opportunity to thank the staff who co-ordinate the workforce at the school every Tuesday.

“It has just been over a year now that we have had teams at the school and I have to say that your supervisor runs a very tight and efficient ship whilst they are on site.

“Your staff are held in very high regard and the way that any issues on site have been handled is always very firm but fair.

“The supervisor handles the people under her care here with a very firm hand and the tasks that have been and continue to be tackled are a credit to her and all of them.

“We are very pleased to have all of them at school and look forward to another year (if we are able to be so bold) of assistance. The fences and boundaries are something that both they and we are very proud of.

“With many thanks for the service you and your staff offer to us.”
